Duties
  • Conducting thorough evaluations of clients' health profiles, meticulously considering their medical history, lifestyle factors, dietary habits, and current health challenges.
  • Crafting personalized wellness plans that integrate a harmonious blend of natural therapies, including herbal medicine, nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, and mind-body techniques, tailored to meet each client's unique needs and aspirations.
  • Empowering clients with a holistic understanding of health through education on fundamental principles, covering nutrition, stress management, sleep optimization, exercise, and mindfulness practices.
  • Providing informed guidance on dietary choices, meal planning strategies, and the judicious use of supplements to foster overall well-being and address specific health concerns effectively.
  • Recommending natural remedies such as herbal supplements, homeopathy, essential oils, and flower essences to complement and enhance clients' well-being journeys.

Incorporating specialized knowledge into client care, including:

Appetite/Hunger Levels

  • Herbal Support and Mindful Eating Techniques: Introducing clients to natural appetite suppressants or herbs that stabilize blood sugar levels, along with mindful eating practices.
  • Natural Appetite Suppressants: Utilizing substances such as Glucomannan, Fenugreek, 5-HTP, Green Tea Extract, Psyllium, and Cayenne Pepper.
  • Blood Sugar Regulators: Recommending supplements like Cinnamon, Berberine, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Chromium Picolinate, Gymnema Sylvestre, and Bitter Melon.

Recovery Following Workouts

  • Providing education on nutrient timing for optimal recovery and performance, covering Pre-Workout, Intra-Workout, and Post-Workout strategies.
  • Suggest natural anti-inflammatory options such as turmeric, omega-3 Fatty Acids, Boswellia, Ginger, Quercetin, Bromelain, White Willow Bark, Rosemary, and Astaxanthin.

Sleep

  • Educating clients on the importance of sleep hygiene and recommending supplements like Melatonin, Valerian Root, Magnesium, Lavender, Chamomile, L-Theanine, 5-HTP, Passionflower, and GABA.

Energy Levels

  • Introducing superfoods, adaptogenic herbs, or specific vitamin/mineral supplements, along with energy conservation techniques like breathwork or mindfulness practices.

Motivation to Exercise

  • Recommending natural supplements like St. John’s Wort or SAMe to support mood and motivation, coupled with stress management, proper sleep, rest days, and nutrient timing strategies.

Digestion

  • Providing support with Digestive Enzymes, Probiotics, or other supplements to aid digestion, and suggesting dietary tweaks based on individual needs.

Strength and Endurance

  • Offering recommendations for natural supplements to improve athletic performance and teaching breathing methods for enhanced endurance.

Stress Levels

  • Introducing Herbal Solutions such as Ashwagandha and stress management techniques like mindfulness and meditation.

Caution and Coordination

  • Considering potential interactions between herbs/supplements and any medications a client is taking, ensuring clients' pre-existing conditions or medications won't be adversely affected by recommended supplements.

Coordination and Documentation

  • Engaging in regular meetings or case discussions with health and fitness coaches to align treatment plans.

Requirements
  • Valid licensure as a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) or Naturopathic Physician (NP) from a reputable national or provincial licensing body.
  • Completion of a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) program accredited by recognized naturopathic medical institutions.
  • Proven clinical experience in naturopathic medicine gained through internships, residencies, or practical experience.
  • Proficiency in diverse naturopathic modalities, nutritional science, and flexibility to adapt treatment plans based on client feedback.
